In general, employees have 31 days from their eligibility date to elect coverage. If the employee does not elect coverage within the initial eligibility period, they will need to wait until the group’s annual enrollment period to elect coverage.
Employees may add or change coverage for themselves or their dependents as a result of a qualified life event such as marriage or a birth/adoption. The employee will need to elect this coverage within 31 days of the event.
Log in to your MyUnum for Clients account and visit the Evidence of Insurability Dashboard on the homepage. Click on Evidence of Insurability in the left-hand navigation bar. This will bring you directly to your EOI information, including detailed EOI status for employees.
The easiest way for Unum members to file a claim or leave is to log in to MyUnum for Members or with the mobile app. Once registered, they can file and manage all claims on a computer or mobile device.
Our guided claim flow will ask questions to identify all benefits your employees may be eligible to receive. This means all applicable claims/leaves will be filed, and members only need to submit the form once. For more information and filing tips, visit the Unum file a claim or leave page.
Your employees can check the status of a claim or leave request by logging into MyUnum for Members to see their personal dashboard, update a claim or check for updates. For the fastest service, we recommend members sign up for text or email alerts so that claimants know right away if more information is needed to complete a claim or leave request.
We encourage all claimants to enroll in direct deposit, which allows them to receive their eligible benefits several days earlier.
